I am inspired by the lines and forms I see in elements of architecture, aiming to distil what I absorb from my surroundings. Drawn to the inspiration of modern and Brutalist architecture especially the buildings beginning their return back to nature, the neatness of these structural forms contrasted with their weather-y decay. In this collection I have used steel, bio resin, guiding metal as well as sterling silver with varying patinas. The combination of precious and non-precious materials is an exciting way for me to keep avenues open and enjoy this creative practice as a form of play and invention, with the aim to create both worn pieces and objects which conjure visions of geometric and architectural forms.
Each ring is both a sculpture within its own right as well as a wearable piece due to its kinetic sliding motion. In addition the magnetised brooches are wearable and work as a part of a larger steel sculptural piece. I aim to be as sustainable as possible in my practice, using Bio resin for my brooch backs and buying recycled silver.
